Nature and the Craft.: Are you a Witch, Wiccan or Pagan?
danceswithfaeriesunderthemoon:
Some people can find this a confusing question. Most assume they are both the same things….they’re not!
This is the basic summary of each:
Witch: uses magic, also knows as Witchcraft, to manipulate the energy of the universe to achieve a desired goal. Anyone of any religion can be a Witch.
Wiccan: Follows the religion called Wicca, a Neo-Pagan religion based on re-creations of pre-Christian beliefs and practices, the worship of the Earth and traditions adopted from ceremonial magic. Although Wiccans call themselves Witches, using Witchcraft is not a requirement. Many choose to use magic, while others simply honour the cycle of the seasons, the moon and the Gods without using magic to achieve personal goals.
Pagan: Also known as Neo-Pagans, follow one of several Earth religions that are influenced by ancient Pagan Religions, Wicca is one such Earth religion. Druidry and Asatru (Norse) are the other two most common Earth religions.
